My Daughter, a U.S. Marine

About Mid February, Erin started talking with a Navy Recruiter. That was a pretty slow process and so about Mid April she switched over to an Army Recruiter. The 5th and 6th of May she went to MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) and passed the aptitude tests with a score of 92%. Very, very good score. The next communication we received from her said that the "next time we heard from her she would be a member of the United States Marine Corps."

This took us totally by surprise. We were still thinking Army. We are totally behind her decision and will support her in any way we can.

She was sworn in on Tuesday, May 25th. She flew to Atlanta where she was joined by a Female Marine person who accompanied her the rest of the way to Parris Island. I received a 30 second phone call when she arrived at Parris Island, SC, telling me she was OK. As of today (6-1-10) I have not received a letter from her, which will be our only means of communication during the 13 weeks of basic training.

As always, I am grateful to Jamie for consolidating many photos into one. I can't wait to see Erin in a uniform.

Semper Fi!! Or whatever it is the Marines say. Boy, do I have a lot to learn.
