4 Grandkids Visit

On Saturday, July 17th, we met Adam, Julie and kids and Megan and boys at the Fruitland/Duchesne rest area and collected 4 of our 6 grandkids. We brought them to Vernal for a really fun visit. We had Mick, Victoria, Lijiah and Jake until Tuesday afternoon. At that point my niece, Sheila, took Lije and Jake back to SLC and we had Mick and Tori until Friday afternoon.

As most of you know, we can not bring Lijiah and Jacob to Vernal without a trip to the Dinosaur Zoozeum. Last time they were here, in June, the museum had just finished re-hairing (I'm sure that is a word somewhere) the woolly mammoth. He was a blond. Maybe it was a she and her name was Ellie (Ice Age 2). This time they had dyed the hemp rope they use to make him woolly and he was back to being Manny. Every few years they have to re-do it because the birds carry it off to make nests with.

It was a sunny bright day.
After the museum we hit the Vernal Rec Center. Even grandma got in the water. Although since I'm the one holding the camera you don't get the pleasure (?) of seeing me in a swim suit. The kids had a great time. Lije, Mick, and Tori just heading up the stairs. When we were sufficiently water logged, we decided to leave and surprise!! the climbing wall was open and the attendant asked the kids if they wanted to climb. Of course.... The only problem we ran into was that you had to have shoes - not flip flops. Lije was the only one wearing shoes, so he got first turn and then everyone else switched to his shoes so they could take a turn. The three older ones all got to about the same point. It was just a little beyond Jake's skill level.
Lijiah first.

Then Mick.Jacob giving it a valiant effort in shoes about 5 sizes too large. And little miss gymnast bringing it to a close. After the museum and rec center, Grandpa Clark joined us and we headed up the mountain to cook a hot dog and some marshmallows. Kids and fire, can you possibly have more fun on a summer evening. Tori ate a few of the cooked marshmallows, but the rest of the bag was cooked and dropped into the fire. I guess cooking is 99% of the fun. Tuesday was a quiet day with a little school shopping for each of the kids completed before Lije and Jake had to head back.
On Wednesday, I took Mick and Victoria to the Daughters of Utah Pioneers museum. It was the first visit for these two. Mick was totally fascinated by the treadle sewing machines. I wish he would have been able to actually give one a try.
Tori and I ended the week with pedicures (by me) and matching polish. I wonder who spends more time barefoot outside? We took the kids back to Spanish Fork on Friday evening and spent the night there. I'm looking forward to the next time they can come. Soon Kade and Lilli will be able to join us.
