Getting Cultured

The Uintah Arts Council has been sponsoring community concerts in Vernal for more than 20 years. Some years we have attended one or more events. We always make it to the BYU Ballroom Dancers. What a show they perform. This year, without really planning it, I have made it to the first three of the concerts. Clark joined me for two of them.

The first one was Jon Schmidt. He is an extremely talented pianist. I hope this will give you a link to one of his songs on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfH2BY5pdLw&feature=PlayList&p=312DD7875AB8F190&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=2

His music is awesome and he is so entertaining with his stories and tricks.

The second concert was the Living Legends Dancers from BYU. Didn't enjoy that one quite so much. My niece joined me for that one.

Last week on the day that the Utah Symphony was to be in Vernal (I had forgotten they were coming), I ran into a friend who offered me two tickets. I called Clark and we made a date. It is not the genre of music we listen to on a regular basis, but it was beautiful for that night.

A guitarist, Brad Richter, will be the final concert of the season on Monday, March 29. If I make it to that one, I will be a full season attender of the Uintah Arts Council Community Concert season of 2010. Yeah for me!!

We had community concert tickets growing up. I remember one year Marcy went with me because one of us couldn't go. We talked and laughed so much we got in trouble at intermission. (Never did tell my parents) I would have appreciated it more as an adult.
