Ground Breaking

The Uintah County Library is a popular place. It has been remodeled several times. It has expanded its office space into space vacated by other county agencies. It is busting at the seams and finally, big drum roll please, a new building is in our future. The county built a new Public Safety Complex (jail), and so the one near the current Library was demolished and that space will be the home of the new library. Yeah!! I am so excited. On May 16th, a formal ground breaking ceremony took place. (Actual start of construction is still a ways off.) As a former employee of the Library (Rhett thinks it's more because of the "thousands and thousands" of books I check out) I was invited to participate in the ground breaking ceremony. As part of the ceremony, before the dirt turning, members of the TAG (Teen Advisory Group) performed a dance to some music about reading. The dignitaries on the stage got into the spirit of things as well. It was entertaining. Here I am, white shirt, with shovel in hand. It was so fun to be part of this special day. After all the adult groups had their photos taken, they handed out mini garden trowels to the kids and let them share in the fun. The proposed finish date is late summer 2012. Oh, the anticipation.
