Saturday the 12th Clark had scout meetings in Orem. I dropped him off and headed to Spanish Fork for a visit. It happened to be the day of the mini triathlon fund raiser sponsored by the young men in Adam's ward. He was participating. He had already ran 11 miles that morning to prepare for the Logan marathon he and Jarod will be running in on Saturday the 19th. Back to my story. The event included a 400 meter swim (in the local pool), an 8 mile bike ride, and a 2 mile run. I'm not sure how many participants there actually were. More than 40 I would guess. Adam was #2 to jump in the water and somewhere between middle and last to get out.

The swimming was the hardest part for almost everyone. Most of the men had this same look on their faces as they got to the end of the swimming portion. "How do I get out of here??"

Adam made up a lot of the time he lost in the pool on the bike ride. We had a kid in our neighborhood when the boys were young that didn't ride his bike. He ran -- barefoot -- beside it everywhere he went. Adam did actually ride the bike for the 8 miles. I didn't want you to be confused with him walking beside it. He was on his way to park it and take off on the running portion.

And he's off.

Crossing the finish line. He made up most of his lost pool time in the run. When it was all said and done, he was 5th place overall.

I hope the guys do so well on Saturday at Top of Utah. Their goal is 4 hours. I will keep you posted.
