Top of Utah Marathon

We traveled to Logan, Utah, on Friday the 18th to prepare for the 11th Annual Top of Utah Marathon. You can see what our preparation was. Adam got to choose the place to eat on Friday night and of course he chose Angie's -- "Where the Locals Eat." As soon as we walked in Mick started asking for the kitchen sink -- a banana split that is more than 1/2 gallon of ice cream. He remembered it from last year, or rather he remembered that I wouldn't let him get it last year. He asked Grandpa Clark and obviously the answer was yes. We all helped him finish it off so he could get the bumper sticker that says "I cleaned the sink at Angie's."

About 4:45 am on Saturday morning before the race. Do they look excited to you?

Almost to the finish line. They hadn't looked up yet to see that they were within seconds of reaching their goal of a 4 hour or less marathon.

Are they in sync or what? They have always been such good buds. I hope that never changes.

Since it was a staggered start time their finish time was actually about 2 minutes faster than what shows on the clock. The goal was met!!

Mick sharing a moment with the runner inside the finishers circle (or whatever they call it).

Lilli sure liked holding on to her Dad's medal. The medal was pretty cute this year. Nice and colorful.

Adam only soaked his feet. There were other runners that were sitting and some even laying in the gutter. The water was VERY cold. After his feet got numb it felt pretty good.

Like I said, Lilli really liked her Dad's medal.

Ninja Mick.

The runners after a refreshing shower. These are the official shirts for this year. Great for hunting as well as running.

Strong legs on these men.
It was a great time. This was Adam's third trip to TOU. Jarod's second. I think they will be looking for a new location next year. Jarod ran in Portland Adam's first year in Logan. He would like to try that one again. We'll see. I just hope it is some where that I can watch them cross the finish line. I love the feeling of seeing them together and the excitement in the air.

I think I would skip the run and go right for the sink!
