Run, Run, Run

November 25, 2010

Rhett and Natalie invited the entire Hall clan to their home in St. George for Thanksgiving. We all eagerly accepted thinking of warm, balmy weather. Not! It was warmer than Vernal would have been, but definitely not the 60's we were all hoping for.

Jarod, Julie, and Adam are marathon runners. They were hoping to enter some sort of a race on Thanksgiving morning. There was not one in the local area so wonderful Natalie mapped out a 4 mile run for those that chose to participate. It was titled the "Hall Family Turkey Trot". As you can see, Julie, Natalie, Jarod, Rhett with Harlee and Hazel, and Adam were the takers. Natalie's dad, Randy Waite, chose to ride a bike with them. And they're off!!
Rhett's plan to have the dogs kind of pull him along backfired. He was pretty sore at the end of the race having spent most of the time untangling or jumping over leashes. The second part of the family race, "The Hall Family Gobble Wobble", took place at the park near their home. It was supposed to be for anyone who didn't participate in the Turkey Trot, but only the kids, and Jarod, chose to run. We had a super fancy toilet paper finish line for them to break through. Mick, of course, was the first winner then the rest of them followed closely.
On your mark, get set, GO!!

Natalie had medals made for everyone there -- whether we ran or not. They were super cute and boy were the kids excited to have them, especially Mick and Tori since their parents have quite a collection of race medals hanging on their fridge. I'm not sure some of the kids even took their medals off the whole time we were there.
It was a really fun way to start the day. Even if we didn't run in a race, we had a ball being a cheerleader or photographer or a finish line holder. Thanks Natalie for a great beginning to an incredible weekend.
