And They're Off!!

Each summer Clark and his sons go on some sort of an expedition. A few years it has included Mick. This was to be Lijiah's first year. Jake had it in his mind that he would be going too. Plans did not include him. He's not potty trained yet and Grandpa and the uncles didn't think he could make the 3 mile hike into the chosen camp site.

They were to leave on Thursday morning. Wednesday evening about 7, Adam called and asked if Tori could go. Jarod said it would be OK so Grandpa agreed as well. They didn't think Tori could make the hike so plans were completely revamped. They would now drive to a destination (Spirit Lake on the north face of the Uintah's) and then just take day hikes etc. Well, if that was the case, then why not take Jake?? So plans were made to include him. When Rhett got wind of the "girl" coming, he was not happy. TRADITION!! This is a guys hike. How am I going to ..... if a girl is there. Adam said not to worry that Tori had changed her mind and didn't want to come after all. By that time Jake was tooooo excited and they couldn't tell him no so they kept with the Spirit Lake plan.

What was to have been a simple backpacking trip morphed into a more than full suburban, complete with 2 adults, 2 kids, and 3 dogs. Camp chef cooker, dutch ovens, coolers, and tables.

He is still smiling. That is a good sign.

Do you think he is just a little excited to be going with "Boppa"? At the end of the trip, Adam made the comment that if he had a nickel for every time he had heard "Boppa" during the previous 3 days, it would pay for his gas for the whole trip. :)

Rhett was a little concerned that his dog, Harley, might be a little cozy in her carrier. I don't think so. Amber, the little red one, and Sasha, the biggest of the three, manage to get along just fine sharing.

And here they go. Rain dampened before they ever left town. You'll have to check out Jarod & Jamie's blog to see photos of the hail and the tent with a hole in it made by the hail. The first night was pretty rough. It got a lot better after that.
