Happy Anniversary to Us

Today is the 33rd anniversary of the marriage of Clark Duane Hall and Beverly Joyce Olsen. WOW!! Congratulations to us. In this day of "starter marriages" and throw away relationships, I am thrilled to have made it so far. Not to say it has all been easy, but so worth it. We were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on Thursday, August 12th, 1976. The bi-centennial year for America. It was also Clark's sister's, Sharlene, 14th birthday. Several easy ways to remember when and how long.
The whole line. My parents, Wilford & Vera Olsen. Clark's parents, Duane & Merlene Hall. Best man, Stacy Hall. Mitch Hall. The radiant couple. Matron of Honor, Marqueita Bowthorpe. Maid of Honor, Denise Horrocks (Southerland). Flower girl, Sheila Bowthorpe (Wallace). Brides maids, Marla Boyer (Garfield), Sharlene Hall (Howard).

Clark's Aunt Jackie made our cake. It was beautiful. The waterfall in the bottom layer really worked -- with green water, none the less. Our colors were peach and mint green. When it came time to cut the cake, Clark and I were standing there with knife in hand and we tried to cut it but the knife wouldn't penetrate. I turned to him and said (captured on video, no sound, but very easy to read lips) "It's still frozen." Clark took the knife and poked around a little. There was a plastic layer -- to support the pillars. He laughed really hard. Aunt Jackie came and saved the day. She disassembled the cake, we cut it, and all was right with the world.

Before we were married, Clark sent me a bouquet of these beautiful peach colored roses. Up until that time I had a different color scheme in mind for the reception. After I got that bouquet, everything changed to center on that color for my bridal bouquet.

Boy, do we look young. Clark was 20 and I was a much older 21. Looking back on that day, it is difficult to imagine where our life has taken us. From here to there and back. But we've done it together. Thank you sweetheart. I love you with everything I have.
